Barcelona plan Rony Bardghji exit despite belief in winger’s talent

Barcelona are considering allowing Rony Bardghji to leave before the transfer window closes, despite continuing to believe in the Sweden winger’s ability.

Bardghji used his 45 minutes against Birmingham to underline that he remains a player in demand in the current transfer market. The 19-year-old was one of Barcelona’s most influential performers in the second half of the friendly, which ended 2-2 before the Catalan club lost on penalties.

His introduction coincided with Barcelona’s strongest attacking spell under manager Hansi Flick. Bardghji brought greater pace, skill and decisiveness in the final third, helping to give the team an increased threat during the closing stages.

According to Spanish newspaper AS, Bardghji registered two shots on target and completed 31 of his 36 passes, giving him an accuracy rate of 87%. He also completed two dribbles, recovered possession three times and was recorded as committing 12 fouls.

Bardghji’s future is now one of the issues sporting director Deco must resolve before the transfer window shuts. Barcelona do not believe signing him was a mistake and remain convinced that he has the talent to develop into an important player.

However, competition for places on the wing is intense. The arrival of Karim Adeyemi, who started against Birmingham, is expected to make Bardghji’s route into the team even more difficult. Barcelona recognise that regular first-team football will be vital if the Sweden international is to continue his development, and the club’s sporting department believes leaving may be the best option for him at this stage.

The challenge for Deco is to find a solution that benefits both the player and Barcelona’s long-term plans. While the club is open to Bardghji departing, it wants to retain a degree of control over his future.

One possibility would be a permanent transfer containing a buy-back option, allowing Barcelona to bring him back if he fulfils his potential elsewhere. The club could also seek a percentage of any future sale, ensuring it benefits financially if Bardghji is later transferred for a higher fee.

A loan move is another alternative under consideration. That would give the winger the playing time Barcelona believe he needs while allowing the club to maintain ownership of his registration and reassess his situation in the future.

Bardghji is not short of opportunities, with interest in his services already present. His display against Birmingham served as a reminder of why Barcelona continue to value his potential, even as they prepare for the possibility that his development will continue away from Camp Nou.
