Bastoni agent hints at possible Inter exit amid reported Mourinho and Real Madrid interest

Inter Milan defender Alessandro Bastoni could be allowed to leave the club this summer if a suitable offer arrives, his agent has indicated, with the Italy international reported to be on Jose Mourinho’s list of targets at Real Madrid.

Tullio Tinti, who represents Bastoni, stressed that the centre-back remains committed to Inter but made clear that the door is not closed on a transfer in the current window.

Speaking to Sky Sport Italia, Tinti said: “He still has two years left on his contract with Inter, and he loves the club’s colours and is not currently thinking about moving to any other team.”

However, he then qualified that stance, adding: “But if in the future a club appears that satisfies Inter and the player, we can discuss it. At the moment, there is nothing concrete to indicate the existence of real negotiations.”

Agent strikes careful tone over future

Spanish newspaper AS reported that Bastoni is among the players admired by Real Madrid coach Mourinho as he assesses options to strengthen his squad.

According to the report, Tinti’s remarks were seen as a classic “carrot and stick” approach – reaffirming the player’s attachment to Inter while simultaneously signalling a willingness to listen if a serious proposal is tabled.

Tinti effectively left open the possibility of Bastoni departing San Siro in this transfer window, underlining that any talks would only begin if an offer met the expectations of both the club and the player.

For now, there is no sign of formal movement from Real Madrid’s side. AS stated that the Spanish club have not yet made an approach for the Italian defender, despite his presence on Mourinho’s preferred shortlist.

Real Madrid priorities and constraints

The same report said Real Madrid must first sell a player before committing to any new signings this summer, a restriction that applies to all positions Mourinho is seeking to reinforce.

Mourinho is understood to be targeting two key areas: centre-back and central midfield. Any potential move for Bastoni would therefore be part of a broader restructuring that depends heavily on outgoings.

At centre-back, the Portuguese coach currently has five players available in that role: new arrival Konate, Dean Huijsen, Antonio Rudiger, Asensio and Militao.

Given that level of depth, Real Madrid are not under immediate pressure to recruit another central defender, but AS suggested Bastoni remains an option should circumstances change and sales create both space in the squad and room in the budget.

Bastoni’s situation at Inter

Bastoni’s contract with Inter, which still has two years to run, places the Italian club in a relatively strong position in any negotiation, as they are under no immediate contractual pressure to sell.

Tinti’s comments indicate that Inter are open to considering an acceptable proposal rather than actively pushing the 25-year-old towards the exit.

For now, Bastoni is presented publicly as fully committed to Inter, while his camp and interested clubs appear to be engaged in an early positioning phase ahead of any potential talks later in the window.
