Bayern Munich prepare major pay rise for Michael Olise as Real Madrid monitor contract talks
Bayern Munich are preparing to open negotiations with Michael Olise over a new contract after the international break, with the club ready to offer a significant salary increase to secure the France forward’s long-term future.
Olise’s current agreement runs until 2029, but Bayern want to extend it until 2032. According to Spanish newspaper AS, the German club plans to raise his annual salary from €14m to €25m the same level as England striker Harry Kane’s pay.
The proposed increase would take effect next summer and is expected to be one of Bayern’s main arguments as they attempt to persuade Olise to commit his future to the club.
However, the player’s principal demand is understood to be the inclusion of a release clause. No such provision exists in his current contract, and the German publication Sport Bild reports that Bayern would consider a €200m clause a reasonable figure.
That issue could prove crucial. Olise’s long-term plans remain uncertain, while Real Madrid are watching developments closely. Liverpool are also following the situation with considerable interest.
Bayern are keen to establish the player’s intentions as soon as possible. Sporting director Max Eberl has recently made clear that the club wants to know, by next summer at the latest, whether Olise would be willing to extend his contract beyond 2029.
The negotiations are expected to be more complicated than those surrounding Kane, while Bayern currently do not know whether Olise or his representative is prepared to discuss a longer-term agreement.
The club has strong reasons to move quickly. Olise has established himself as one of Bayern’s leading players since the start of the season, scoring eight goals and providing four assists in just seven matches.
His performances have also increased his market value to €170m, underlining the importance of reaching an agreement before interest from elsewhere develops further. Bayern’s proposed salary would place Olise alongside Kane among the club’s highest-paid players, but the release clause remains a key condition for the Frenchman.
A €200m clause would offer Bayern protection against losing Olise cheaply while giving the player a defined route to leave should he decide to pursue a move in the future. For now, the club’s priority is to resolve the uncertainty and determine whether its forward is prepared to remain in Munich beyond the end of his existing deal.
