Bologna sign Netherlands-Nigeria striker Jay Enem from Red Star for €6m

Netherlands-Nigeria centre-forward Jay Enem has joined Bologna from Red Star in a €6m move, becoming the latest striker to switch from Serbian football to Serie A.

The 23-year-old has signed a contract with Bologna running until 30 June 2030. He moves to Italy after helping Red Star win both the Serbian league title and Serbian Cup during the 2025-26 season.

Enem made two appearances for Red Star in the opening stages of the 2026-27 Serbian SuperLiga campaign, scoring once. He also featured in qualifying for both the Europa League and Champions League, providing one assist in two Europa League qualifying appearances.

Born in Amsterdam, Enem stands at 1.95m and is a right-footed centre-forward. He holds Dutch and Nigerian nationality and will now continue his career in Italy’s top flight with Bologna.

His move to Red Star followed a short spell with OFK Beograd. Enem initially joined Red Star on loan in January 2026, before returning to OFK Beograd at the end of that season. Red Star then signed him in July, ahead of his move to Bologna two months later.

Enem had joined OFK Beograd from Venezia in July 2025 after leaving the Italian club on a free transfer. His earlier career included loan spells with Omonia 29th May and Ethnikos, as well as time in the youth systems of Venezia, Ajax and AZ Alkmaar.

The transfer marks Enem’s return to Italy after his time with Venezia and gives Bologna a forward with recent experience of domestic competition and European qualifying football. His record across the opening weeks of the 2026-27 campaign includes five appearances in total, one goal and one assist.

Enem’s arrival was completed on 31 August 2026, with Bologna paying Red Star €6m for the striker.
