Boreham Wood reject £1.4bn Djurgarden bid for winger Abdulmalik

Boreham Wood have rejected an opening offer of £750,000, approximately N1.4 billion, from Swedish club Djurgarden for winger Abdul Abdulmalik.

Djurgarden are interested in signing the 23-year-old before the Swedish transfer window closes, but their initial proposal has been turned down because Boreham Wood believe the player is worth more.

According to Sky Sport reporter Dharmesh Sheth, via Fotbolltransfers, Djurgardens IF have not abandoned their pursuit and are expected to return with an improved bid for the National League club’s leading attacking player.

Abdulmalik joined Boreham Wood from Millwall in the summer of 2024 and quickly became one of the team’s most influential performers. His form last season strengthened his reputation and attracted attention from clubs outside England.

The winger scored 17 goals and registered 10 assists in 54 appearances across all competitions during the campaign. That return has encouraged Djurgarden to try to take him to Sweden, where they are seeking to reinforce their squad in the country’s top flight.

The proposed move would represent a significant step in Abdulmalik’s career, taking him from England’s fifth tier to the Allsvenskan. Djurgarden, based in Stockholm, are now considering whether to increase their offer in an effort to persuade Boreham Wood to sell one of their prized assets.
