Ahead of its Round of 16 clash with host, Argentina at the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup, Nigeria’s national U-20 team is yet to leave Buenos Aires to San Juan.

San Juan is the venue of the Round of 16 against the South Americans, where the Flying Eagles are yet to arrive.

NigeriaFootball.ng understands that the Nigerian side were informed about departing their current base in the morning but at the press time, players and officials are still yet to leave Sheraton Hotel in Bueno Aires.

Many see it as a plot to sabotage the team’s aim to book a quarter-final ticket after being paired against the host nation, Argentina.

The Round of 16 game is slated to take place on Wednesday, May 31, at the Estadio San Juan del Bicentenario, San Juan.

Ladan Bosso’s side finished third in Group D with six points behind Italy, and Brazil qualifying as one of the best third-place teams, with the placement set up a Round of 16 tie with host and Group A winners, Argentina.

After victories over Dominican Republic (2-1) and Italy (2-0), the West African side faltered 2-0 to Brazil in its last group game.

The West Africans will hope to surpass its recent Round of 16 ousters at the competition but are now faced with a daunting task against the hosts Argentina on Wednesday.
