Hull City step up pursuit of Millwall winger Femi Azeez

Hull City are increasing their efforts to sign Nigeria international Femi Azeez from Millwall as they prepare for their return to the Premier League.

The Tigers have identified the 25-year-old winger as one of their main transfer targets while reshaping their squad for the 2026/27 campaign. Hull City secured promotion last season and are now working to strengthen their team before beginning life back in the top flight.

According to Football League World, Hull City are keen to reach an agreement for Azeez before the start of the new Premier League season. The club are understood to view the forward as an important potential addition as they seek to compete at the highest level.

Millwall are expected to make negotiations difficult, however, with the Championship club determined to retain a player who played a major role in their successful 2025/26 campaign.

The Lions reportedly rejected a £20m offer from Premier League newcomers Ipswich Town earlier this summer. That decision highlighted Millwall’s valuation of Azeez and their reluctance to allow one of their key attacking players to leave.

Azeez enjoyed an outstanding season in the Championship, establishing himself among the division’s most effective attacking players. He scored 11 goals and provided eight assists in 33 league starts for Millwall.

His performances helped make him one of the standout players in the division and earned him selection in the Sky Bet Championship Team of the Season. The recognition further increased interest in the winger as Premier League clubs assess possible additions to their squads.

Azeez’s form has also strengthened his standing at international level. He has won two caps for Nigeria and is regarded as one of the country’s promising attacking talents.

Hull City will now hope their interest can persuade Millwall to consider a deal, despite the London club’s previous decision to turn down a substantial offer from Ipswich Town. Any agreement is likely to depend on whether the Tigers are prepared to meet Millwall’s valuation of the player.

The proposed move would give Azeez the opportunity to fulfil his ambition of playing in the Premier League, while Hull City would add a forward who produced consistent goals and assists in the Championship last season.

For Millwall, the immediate priority will be to keep hold of a player who has become central to their attacking threat. For Hull City, securing Azeez would represent another significant step in their preparations for a return to the top flight.

The Tigers’ interest is expected to remain active as the transfer window progresses, with the club continuing to rebuild their squad ahead of the 2026/27 Premier League campaign.
