Nigeria midfielder Julius Offorzor swaps Malta for Romania with free transfer to ACS Minerul Lupeni

Julius Offorzor has joined Romanian club ACS Minerul Lupeni from FC Swieqi Utd. on a free transfer.

The 22-year-old central midfielder completed the move on 3 August 2026, ending his time with the Maltese side after one year. Offorzor becomes the latest stage of his career to take him beyond Malta, having previously played for Oratory Youths and Ighalo FA.

Offorzor made 10 appearances in the Gozo League and scored once during his time with FC Swieqi Utd. His record in the competition includes 891 minutes of football and one goal.

The Nigeria-born midfielder moved to Swieqi from Oratory Youths on 23 July 2025, also on a free transfer. He had joined Oratory Youths from Ighalo FA six months earlier, completing another move without a fee on 15 January 2025.

Offorzor is listed as a central midfielder and stands 1.77m tall. His transfer to Minerul Lupeni represents his third club change since the start of 2025 and his first move away from the Maltese football system.

The move was completed at the beginning of the 2026-27 season, with Offorzor leaving FC Swieqi Utd. after his only recorded campaign with the club. His performances in the Gozo League included a goal across his 10 appearances before the switch to Romania.

Minerul Lupeni are Offorzor’s fourth senior club. His career to date has included spells with Ighalo FA, Oratory Youths and FC Swieqi Utd., with each of his three transfers completed without a fee.

The change gives Offorzor a new club after a year in Malta and adds a Nigerian midfielder to Minerul Lupeni’s squad. The transfer was completed on 3 August, with no contract length disclosed.
