NWFL: Ramat Zuberu elated with maiden top-flight opportunity at Confluence Queens

After completing a loan move to Confluence Queens from Bravehearts Ladies during the mid-season transfer window, Ramat Zuberu is on cloud nine with the chance to play in the top-flight cadre of women’s football in Nigeria.
After scoring four goals for Bravehearts Ladies at the 2024 Judith Chime Championship in Enugu, Zuberu started to catch the eyes of scouts.
This was followed by a superb display at the last Edo State FA Cup before joining the Kogi-based Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership side
“I’m really excited about this move, even though it’s temporary. Coming from the grassroots level, playing in the NWFL Premiership is a massive step up, but I’m ready to rise to the challenge,” Zuberu told www.nigeriafootball.ng
“The Bravehearts Ladies gave me a strong foundation, and I’m grateful for the opportunity now to be exposed, gain experience, and learn as much as I can from this level.”
With Confluence Queens bottom of Group A after nine games, she hopes to help the team beat the drop.
“My focus is on helping the team finish as strongly as possible,” She added.
“I want to contribute with goals, assists, and solid performances. On a personal level, my greatest joy is the Confluence Queens is different from most NWFL Clubs. They believe in development. They give young players opportunities. I’m aiming to establish myself and repay the faith they have put in me.”
Playing for the amateur side, Bravehearts Ladies molded the player on her way to moving to a professional side.
This involves winning the highest goal scorer award at the 2025 Edo State FA Cup.
“Playing for Bravehearts Ladies really toughened me up. Before the new Edo State FA Board came in we didn’t use to have lots of female competitions, but now we do,” She continued.
“There are now more competitions in Edo state so playing there is more intense. I also want to thank my Coaches in Bravehearts who always push me to improve. That experience has prepared me to handle the pace and pressure of top-flight football.
“Emem Essien is definitely my role model. A really fantastic finisher. Her work ethic, her composure in front of goal, and the way she carries herself on and off the pitch. She’s someone I look up to and always try to emulate.”
Every player has future ambitions, and Zuberu is not an exception.
“In the next five years, I hope to be a key player in any premiership team, possibly representing Nigeria on the International stage. I’m determined to keep working hard, learning, and pushing myself to reach the highest level possible.” She concluded.
