By: Monsurah Olatunji
Nigeria international Ola Aina made a significant impact as Nottingham Forest secured a commanding 3-0 victory over West Ham, propelling them past Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal in the Premier League table.
The 28-year-old fullback scored a stunning goal in the 78th minute, weaving past defenders before firing a magnificent shot into the top left corner to seal the win for the home side.
Chris Wood opened the scoring for Nuno Espírito Santo’s team, followed by Callum Hudson-Odoi, who doubled the tally just after the hour mark.
Aina’s goal marked his first of the season and the fourth of his Premier League career.
After his remarkable contribution, Aina was substituted in the 89th minute, making way for Eric da Silva Moreira.
The Super Eagles defender aims to surpass his personal best of two goals in a season, achieved during the 2020/21 campaign.
Taiwo Awoniyi also featured briefly, coming on for Chris Wood in the 79th minute.
With this victory over a 10-man West Ham at the City Ground, Nottingham Forest climbed to third place in the Premier League, matching a 25-year-old record by winning three consecutive league games for the first time since May 1999.
