Lillestrom SK’s Sporting Director, Simon Mesfin, has revealed how the Norwegian club managed to fend off stiff competition from top European clubs to secure the signature of Nigerian striker, Arierhi Kparobo.
Kparobo, who recently made waves at the WAFU B U20 Championship in Togo, has joined Lillestrom from Beyond Limits, with his impressive performances catching the eyes of several European suitors.
The young forward’s swift rise to prominence, particularly his goal-scoring feats at the continental tournament, sparked interest from some of the continent’s biggest clubs.
Mesfin explained that Lillestrom’s strong, ongoing relationship with Kparobo’s parent club played a crucial role in facilitating the transfer, enabling the Norwegian side to seal the deal ahead of rival teams.
“We have reached an agreement despite strong competition from many big clubs in Europe,” Mesfin said. “There are still clubs calling his agent and wondering how much LSK will pay for this great talent, even before he has made his debut for the club.”
He continued, “I have never come across such intense interest, but we are glad to have him on board. We believe he will continue his development here, and we hope he scores many goals for LSK before potentially moving on to bigger things.”
Kparobo’s move to Lillestrom represents an exciting step in his career as he prepares to showcase his talent in one of Europe’s top leagues. His performances will be closely monitored, with the striker’s potential to make a significant impact for Lillestrom before a possible future transfer to one of the big clubs that have been following his progress.
With his promising talent and strong European interest already surrounding him, Kparobo’s time at Lillestrom will likely be an exciting one, as he continues to develop and make his mark in European football.
