Victor Boniface reveals secret behind choice of Leverkusen jersey number

Nigeria international and Bayer 04 Leverkusen star, Victor Boniface has revealed the emotional reason behind his jersey number.

Boniface chose to wear the number 22 shirt at his club side as a tribute to his late mother, marking the date he lost her.

The 23-year-old has always paid tribute to his late mum, while also showering so much love on his grandmother, who is still alive.

The Super Eagles star is currently nursing a groin injury he sustained during international duty with Nigeria.

“I took the number 22 because it’s the day I lost my mum” – Boniface revealed in an online question and answer organized by his team.
