Nigerian defender Glory Ogbonna put in a standout performance for Besiktas as they triumphed 1-0 over Galatasaray in a Turkish Women’s Super Lig encounter on Saturday.

The match, which was part of Matchweek 8, saw Kosovo international Donjeta Halilaj score the only goal of the game on her debut for Besiktas. Ogbonna, who has been a key player for the team this season, played a crucial role in the build-up to the goal, showcasing her defensive and attacking contributions.

The Super Falcons’ defender was on the pitch for the full 90 minutes, demonstrating leadership and composure in her defensive duties to help Besiktas secure a vital victory.

On the opposing side, Ogbonna’s national team compatriots Tosin Demehin and Flourish Sebastien were both involved for Galatasaray. Demehin played the full match, while Sebastien, who recently joined Galatasaray, was substituted at halftime.

The win is significant for Besiktas, who have now moved up to third in the league standings with 16 points, just behind Fenerbahçe and Fomget GSK.
