NPFL Wrap: Shooting Stars edge Bendel Insurance as Remo Stars extend Lead

By Dayo Awoniyi

Shooting Stars secured a vital 1-0 victory over Bendel Insurance, keeping their title aspirations alive in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).

The hard-fought win moved them closer to the top, maintaining the pressure on leaders Remo Stars.

In contrast, Remo Stars extended their dominance with a 2-1 win over Kano Pillars, marking their fourth consecutive double victory since the league’s second stanza began last month.

Previous wins against Akwa United, Abia Warriors, and Sunshine Stars highlighted their strong form.

With 45 points now in hand, Remo Stars hold an eight-point advantage at the summit and will look to further solidify their lead when they face Enugu Rangers next week.

Elsewhere, El-kanemi Warriors edged Nasarawa United 1-0, with Umar Al Amin scoring the decisive goal in the 33rd minute.

Meanwhile, the defeat to Shooting Stars has seen Bendel Insurance drop closer to the relegation zone, now sitting 15th with 25 points, just two points ahead of 17th-placed Sunshine Stars.

With the race heating up, every point counts for the teams fighting to avoid relegation.

This round of results sets the stage for an exciting continuation of the NPFL season on Sunday as teams battle for top positions and survival.
