NPFL: Brown Ideye’s Return Boosts Enyimba Ahead of Rivers United Clash

By Wale Mustapha

Enyimba FC have received a timely boost ahead of their highly anticipated Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) clash against Rivers United, with the return of experienced striker Brown Ideye to training.

The 36-year-old former Super Eagles forward has missed Enyimba’s last two league outings due to a minor injury but is now back in action, ramping up his fitness ahead of the crucial encounter.

Enyimba’s Communications Officer, David Orji, confirmed the positive news, expressing the club’s relief at Ideye’s recovery.

“The club is happy that Ideye is back in training after sustaining a minor injury and should be fully fit soon,” Orji told DAILY POST.

Ideye, who has been a key figure in the Enyimba squad, has contributed with one goal and an assist in four league appearances so far this season.

His return to full fitness will be a significant boost for the People’s Elephants as they look to secure a vital win in front of their home crowd at Aba.

The match against Rivers United, set for Sunday as part of Matchday 24, will be an important fixture for both sides.

Rivers United, managed by George Finidi, currently sits in eighth place on the NPFL table with 31 points from 22 matches, and a win against the Port Harcourt-based side will give Enyimba a much-needed lift as they look to climb up the standings and chase down a higher finish.

As Enyimba prepares to host Rivers United, all eyes will be on Ideye’s potential return to action and whether his experience can help his side overcome their formidable opponents in this crucial encounter.
