Wikki Tourists FC Fined ₦3.75 Million for Unruly Conduct in NNL Super 8 Final

By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

Wikki Tourists FC has been hit with fines totaling ₦3.75 million by the Nigeria National League (NNL) following their involvement in violent incidents during the 2024/2025 Super 8 playoff final against Warri Wolves FC.

The match, held on July 12 at the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba, descended into chaos after Wikki Tourists supporters reportedly threw objects at match officials and invaded the pitch post-match.

The disturbances were described as “unruly” and “below standard” in a letter sent by the NNL to the Bauchi State Football Association and the club.

Citing violations of Articles 16.1.1 and 27.1 of its regulatory code, the NNL imposed the following sanctions:

₦1,000,000 for general misconduct by fans and officials

₦2,000,000 for intimidation, harassment, and pitch invasion

₦750,000 for property damage within the stadium

NNL Chief Operating Officer Danlami Alanana condemned the behavior, stating that it “jeopardized the beauty and glamour of a reputable final.”

The club has been given 24 hours to accept the sanctions or file an appeal.

The incident has cast a shadow over what was supposed to be a showcase event for Nigeria’s second-tier football league, raising concerns about security and sportsmanship.
