Ajayi’s Heroic Strike Secures Victory for Al Ahly as Troost-Ekong, Agu Face Defeat at Home

Cairo, Egypt – In a thrilling encounter in the Egyptian first division on Sunday, Nigerian striker Junior Ajayi showcased his prowess, propelling Al Ahly to a 2-1 victory over Misr Lel Makasa. The clash unfolded with John Antwi confidently putting Makasa ahead 1-0 from the penalty spot in the 27th minute, setting the stage for an intense battle.

Ajayi, a key asset for Ahly, demonstrated his exceptional skills in the 55th minute, securing his fourth league goal of the season and drawing Ahly level. The momentum shifted dramatically with six minutes remaining when Walid Soliman netted the decisive goal, sealing a 2-1 triumph for the league leaders.

Currently perched at the summit of the league table with 45 points, Ahly maintains a formidable four-point lead over second-placed Ismaily, holding a game in hand that could further solidify their dominance.

Meanwhile, in the Dutch Eredivisie, Batholomew Ogbeche took the field for Willem II in a clash against FC Groningen that culminated in a 1-1 draw. Despite Ogbeche’s presence and his impressive tally of eight goals in nine league games, Willem II continues to grapple with a winless streak of five matches, comprising three draws and two defeats.

In the Turkish Super Lig, the Super Eagles duo of William Troost-Ekong and Mikel Agu experienced disappointment as Bursaspor succumbed to a 3-0 defeat at home against Istanbul Basaksehir. Troost-Ekong and Agu, both completing the full 90 minutes, endeavored to stem the tide but were unable to avert the visiting team’s triumph.
