Fikayo Tomori could leave AC Milan in January as clubs monitor defender

AC Milan are prepared to consider January offers for Fikayo Tomori rather than risk losing the Nigerian-born defender without a fee next summer.
Tomori’s future at San Siro is uncertain, with the 28-year-old no longer a regular under manager Ruben Amorim. He has made only three appearances this season and was unable to prevent Milan suffering a 3-0 defeat by Bournemouth in the UEFA Europa League last week.
The performance further increased speculation that the former Chelsea and Hull City defender could move on during the January transfer window, before becoming a free agent at the end of the campaign.
The report on Tomori’s contract contains conflicting expiry details, stating both that his current agreement ends at the conclusion of this season and that it is due to run until 2027. Despite that discrepancy, Milan are said to have no plans to offer the player a new contract and are willing to discuss a potential transfer in January.
Tomori was born in Canada to Nigerian parents and represented England internationally. He joined Milan in 2021, initially on loan from Chelsea, before completing a permanent move after establishing himself at the Serie A club.
A return to Queensland has already been mentioned as one possible destination, although Tomori is understood to prefer a move back to the Premier League. According to Tribal Football, he has previously turned down other opportunities, including an approach from Saudi Arabia.
Newcastle and Chelsea are among the clubs linked with the defender, while Aston Villa have also been named as a possible destination. Crystal Palace, West Ham, Fulham and Everton are additionally reported to be monitoring his position.
Coventry City could provide another route back into English football, while Juventus have been keeping track of developments in Italy.
Milan’s willingness to listen to offers could therefore give Tomori an opportunity to secure a move before his contract situation is resolved. The coming weeks are expected to be used to assess the options available to him and the clubs interested in signing him.
