Al-Ittihad maintained their lead in the Jawwy Elite League Under-21 after a narrow victory over Neom, while Al-Ahli responded with a convincing win and Al-Taawoun produced the standout result of round eight by beating Al-Ettifaq 5-1.
The latest round underlined the growing competition at the top of the table, with several sides attempting to reduce the gap to the leaders. Attack-minded performances dominated the headlines, including Al-Taawoun’s emphatic success and the 1-1 draw between Al-Hilal and Al-Fateh.
Al-Ittihad extend advantage at the summit
Al-Ittihad secured a 1-0 win against Neom to collect three important points and move on to 22 points. The result allowed them to retain first place and continue their positive run in the competition.
Al-Ahli remain the closest challengers after returning to winning ways against Damac. Their 3-1 victory took them to 18 points, leaving them four points behind the leaders as they continue to pursue the summit.
The result keeps the title race open, with the coming rounds likely to bring further changes among the leading clubs.
Al-Taawoun make a statement
Al-Taawoun recorded the biggest win of the round, defeating Al-Ettifaq 5-1 on their own ground. The comprehensive victory lifted them to 15 points and strengthened their position in the race for the upper places.
They also have a game in hand, giving them an additional opportunity to improve their standing and increase the pressure on the teams above them.
The other match involving leading sides ended without a winner, as Al-Hilal and Al-Fateh drew 1-1. Neither team was able to claim all three points, with both settling for a point that affected their calculations in the race for the top positions.
The draw also gave their rivals an opportunity to make further progress in the table.
Al-Ettifaq forward leads scoring chart
The battle for the competition’s top-scorer award is also developing into a close contest. Al-Ettifaq forward Mohammed Al-Issa leads the standings with eight goals.
Al-Ittihad player Ammar Al-Ghamdi is one goal behind on seven, keeping the individual race finely balanced as the season continues.
The performances of the young players have added further interest to the scoring contest, with the attacking quality displayed during round eight highlighting the threat posed by the leading forwards.
Al-Ittihad hold the advantage in the league standings, but Al-Ahli and Al-Taawoun remain among the main pursuers. The next fixtures will determine whether the leaders can widen the gap and could also reshape both the table and the race for the scoring title.
