Kylian Mbappe embraces Ballon d’Or spotlight ahead of London ceremony

Kylian Mbappe has arrived in London for the Ballon d’Or ceremony hoping to win the prestigious award for the first time in his career.
The Real Madrid forward is among the leading contenders after finishing as the top scorer in the Champions League, La Liga and the World Cup. He faces strong competition from Barcelona forward Lamine Yamal and Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane.
Mbappe attended the ceremony at the London Palladium, where he spoke to French television channel L’Equipe about his position as one of the favourites for the award.
“I know I am the talk of the town,” Mbappe said, according to Foot Mercato. “You know me, it does not bother me. I know I cannot please everyone.”
The France international said he had no intention of changing his character because of the attention surrounding the award.
“I do not want to change and become someone else,” he added. “It is very difficult for me to be someone else.”
Mbappe was also asked whether he had prepared a speech in case he won the Ballon d’Or.
“No, that would be unlucky,” he said. “You just have to enjoy the moment and see how the evening unfolds.”
