Bayern Munich send major delegation to Ballon d’Or ceremony as Harry Kane hopes grow

Bayern Munich chief executive Jan-Christian Dreesen says the club will send a large delegation to London for Monday’s Ballon d’Or ceremony, with hopes that Harry Kane can win the prestigious award.

Dreesen said Bayern would be “extremely happy” if the England captain received the prize, praising his performances for both club and country.

“Harry breaks records year after year, but his 73 goals for Bayern Munich and England carry particular importance this time,” Dreesen said.

He described Kane as a “360-degree striker”, explaining that the forward has a complete view of the pitch, works tirelessly and helps his team-mates produce better performances.

In comments reported by German publication Merkur, Dreesen added that Kane had continued to develop his style of play and had helped change the way the entire Bayern team performed.

He also portrayed the 33-year-old as a global star who combines humility and sophistication, while setting an outstanding example both on and off the pitch.

Olise backed for future Ballon d’Or success

Dreesen’s praise also extended to France forward Michael Olise, who is included among the nominees. The Bayern chief executive said Olise deserved his place on the shortlist and predicted that he would win the Ballon d’Or one day.

He said the number of Bayern players nominated reflected an exceptional season for the club. Four Bayern players are on the shortlist for the first time in 10 years.

Dreesen also highlighted the nomination of Vincent Kompany among the world’s best coaches. Bayern’s women’s and men’s teams have both been nominated for the best club award for the first time.

“We are travelling to London with great humility, hoping to celebrate winning one or two awards,” Dreesen said.

If Kane wins, he would become the first Bayern Munich player to claim the Ballon d’Or since Karl-Heinz Rummenigge in 1981.
