Raphinha names Valverde and Vinicius Junior as Real Madrid’s driving force ahead of Clasico

Barcelona forward Raphinha says Federico Valverde and Vinicius Junior are the players who provide Real Madrid with their energy and momentum, rather than Kylian Mbappe.
Speaking before the Clasico, Raphinha identified the pair as key threats to Barcelona, despite Vinicius Junior being unavailable for the match. His comments were published by Tribuna.
“I cannot say that his absence will be a good thing for us, because Real Madrid ultimately have many players capable of deciding matches,” Raphinha said.
“It is true that Vini will not be there, but there are other players who can fill his position and make the difference in a match of this size.”
Raphinha’s remarks underline Barcelona’s expectation that Real Madrid can compensate for the absence of Vinicius Junior through the depth of their squad. He said the Madrid side still had several players capable of changing the course of the game, making the challenge no easier for Barcelona.
Raphinha praises Valverde’s versatility
The Barcelona forward reserved particular praise for Uruguay international Federico Valverde, highlighting his ability to influence matches from different positions.
“Fede can move forward from midfield, and he also gives the team many options when he plays as a full-back,” Raphinha said.
“Ultimately, he is an incredible player. He performs brilliantly in midfield and also excels when he plays out wide.”
Raphinha selected Valverde and Vinicius Junior when discussing the players he believes have the greatest influence on Real Madrid’s overall performance. He said their contribution was not limited to a particular role or position, but came from the work they put in for the team.
“Fede and Vini are the driving force of Real Madrid,” Raphinha said. “They are the type of players who put in a great deal of effort and work for their team, regardless of the position in which they play.”
The comments came before a Clasico carrying significant importance for both Barcelona and Real Madrid. The rivalry brings its own pressures and considerations, with individual readiness and tactical details potentially decisive in determining the outcome.
Although Kylian Mbappe has been enjoying strong performances for Real Madrid, Raphinha’s assessment focused instead on the influence of Valverde and Vinicius Junior. His comments also stressed that Vinicius Junior’s absence would not remove the threat posed by Real Madrid’s other attacking and midfield options.
