Christy Ucheibe retains Portuguese Taça da Liga title with SL Benfica

Nigeria midfielder Chrisy Ucheibe and her Portuguese side, SL Benfica, retained the 2024/25 Taça da Liga title.

The Portuguese league winners edged Sporting CP 2-1 in the final at the Estadio Dr Magalhaes Pessoa on Sunday.

Diana Silva opened the scoring for Sporting in the ninth minute of play.

Brazil’s Lais equalized for SL Benfica in the 20th minute.

Carole Costa scored a late game-winner for Benfica in the 88th minute to clinch the title.

Ucheibe played the duration of the match as she added to her title accolades with SL Benfica.

SL Benfica has won four consecutive Taça da Liga titles since Braga won the 2021/22 trophy.

They have won six of the last seven Taça da Liga titles added to their league dominance.
