Djurgarden sign England-Nigeria winger Abdul Abdulmalik from Boreham Wood

England-Nigeria winger Abdul Abdulmalik has joined Swedish club Djurgarden from Boreham Wood, completing a move to the Allsvenskan side.

The 23-year-old left winger has signed a contract with Djurgarden running until 31 December 2029. Abdulmalik, who prefers his right foot, moves to Sweden after developing his senior career in England’s National League.

Abdulmalik made a strong contribution for Boreham Wood during the 2025-26 campaign. He played three times in the National League play-offs, scoring twice and providing two assists, while also featuring in three FA Cup matches and scoring once.

He had also made two National League appearances during the 2026-27 season, recording one goal and two assists before switching clubs. His performances helped him establish an attacking role from the left, with his involvement extending to both goals and assists for Boreham Wood.

Abdulmalik joined Boreham Wood from Millwall Under-21s in July 2024 on a free transfer. Before that move, he spent time with Wealdstone on loan during the 2023-24 season, returning to Millwall Under-21s in January 2024.

His career began in the Millwall academy, where he progressed from the club’s youth team to the Under-18s and then the Under-21s. He also won the National League Cup during his time in the competition.

Djurgarden are adding an attacking player with experience of English non-league football and recent involvement in decisive matches, including the National League play-offs. Abdulmalik’s switch also represents his first move outside England at senior level.

The transfer was completed on 30 August 2026, with Abdulmalik now under contract at Djurgarden until the end of 2029.
