EPL: Ola Aina makes History in Nottingham Forest’s late win over Manchester City

By Wale Mustapha

Nigerian defender Ola Aina reached a milestone on Saturday, making his 50th English Premier League (EPL) appearance for Nottingham Forest in their thrilling 1-0 victory over champions Manchester City.

Aina, who joined Forest on a free transfer in the summer of 2023, has been a key figure in the team’s defense, making 27 league appearances this season, contributing two goals and three assists.

Despite an injury-hit first season, Aina has shown impressive form under Nuno Espirito Santo.

In the Manchester City clash, Aina was solid in defense, helping secure the crucial win for Forest, which came thanks to a late goal from Callum Hudson-Odoi.

This historic appearance adds to the 28-year-old’s growing reputation, as he is expected to make a decision on his future with the club in the coming days, with his contract up for renewal.

Aina’s international teammate, Taiwo Awoniyi, also featured in the match.

The win has significantly boosted Forest’s hopes of securing a spot in next season’s UEFA Champions League.
