Nigeria striker Kelechi Iheanacho has thrown his support behind George Finidi to be appointed as the next head coach of the Nigerian national team, following an impressive victory against Ghana.

Iheanacho expressed his confidence in Finidi’s capabilities, citing the interim coach’s successful handling of the team during their recent match against Ghana. He believes that Finidi has proven himself within a short period and deserves to be given a permanent role in leading the Super Eagles.

Finidi, who previously served as an assistant coach under former head coach Jose Peseiro, was appointed as the interim head coach and has reportedly applied for the permanent position following Peseiro’s departure.

In their first test under Finidi’s leadership, Nigeria delivered a convincing performance against Ghana, securing a 2-1 victory at the Grande Stade de Marrakech in Morocco. Iheanacho praised Finidi for his work with the team and urged the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) to consider retaining him as the permanent manager.

“The coach has done a great job in a short time working with us. It’s just him at the moment. Hopefully, he will get more chances with the team,” Iheanacho stated, endorsing Finidi for the role.
