Javier Tebas welcomes Peter Lim’s 42% Valencia sale to Pitchwise Holdings

LaLiga president Javier Tebas has described the sale of a 42% stake in Valencia by Peter Lim to Pitchwise Holdings as “very positive news” for both the club and the city.

Valencia announced the transaction in an official statement on Friday. The deal values the club at €1.25bn and covers the acquisition of 42% of its share capital.

“It is very positive news for Valencia and for the whole city of Valencia,” Tebas said.

He added: “This partnership is not only about bringing in new capital. It also involves the arrival of partners with extensive experience in sports management, alongside world-class investors.

“The transaction, which values the club at €1.25bn and includes the acquisition of 42% of its capital, reflects the strength and potential of all Valencia’s assets, from the men’s and women’s teams to the new stadium.”

Tebas said the deal also demonstrated the appeal of investing in LaLiga clubs.

“It is important to stress that investors of this calibre are not only placing their trust in Valencia, but are also choosing to invest in LaLiga clubs,” he said.

The LaLiga president added that the agreement formed part of recent developments in club ownership and highlighted the work carried out at Valencia in recent years.

“This transaction comes amid the recent movements we have seen in club ownership,” Tebas said. “It confirms the significant amount of work that has been done at Valencia in recent years, while once again highlighting LaLiga’s position as an attractive and economically sustainable competition, capable of attracting major international investment over the long term.”
