Luca Zidane on the brink of move from Granada to Leganes
Luca Zidane is close to completing a move from Granada to Leganes, with only the formal signing left before the transfer can be confirmed.
The 28-year-old Algeria international goalkeeper is expected to join the Madrid-based club on a permanent transfer, with the deal potentially being completed on Friday. According to AS, citing sources close to Leganes, all parties have reached an agreement and the transfer is now considered settled in principle.
The proposed move is understood to involve a small fixed fee, with Granada also set to receive additional payments linked to the goalkeeper’s performances. Zidane’s current contract with Granada runs until the summer of 2027.
His arrival would complete Leganes’ 25-player first-team squad, increasing the urgency for the club to resolve the situation in goal as quickly as possible. The final steps of the transfer are therefore expected to be completed shortly, provided the paperwork and signatures are concluded as planned.
Zidane, the son of former France and Real Madrid midfielder Zinedine Zidane, played 27 matches for Granada last season. He started every one of those games and conceded 33 goals.
His potential move comes as Leganes continue to deal with uncertainty surrounding goalkeeper Juan Soriano. AS has previously reported that the situation has become increasingly complicated over time.
Leganes informed Soriano some time ago that they did not want him to remain at the club. However, rather than making his departure easier, the club subsequently began asking for a transfer fee in return for allowing the goalkeeper to leave.
That unresolved issue has contributed to the urgency around Leganes’ goalkeeping plans. With Zidane poised to join, the club would be able to complete its senior squad while also strengthening its options in that position.
Zidane’s arrival would give Leganes a goalkeeper who was a regular starter for Granada during the previous campaign. The clubs have not yet officially announced the transfer, but the agreement is now close to being finalised, with the signing described as the only remaining step.
