Ghanaian legend Michael Essien has proudly reflected on his unbeaten record against Nigeria at the international level, highlighting his experiences in two matches without a loss.

Essien considers the Super Eagles to be one of the toughest teams he faced, and he specifically recalled his favorite encounter: the 2008 Africa Cup of Nations.

“I never lost against Nigeria while on the pitch,” he stated in an interview with Joy Sports.

He noted that although he didn’t play in the 2006 AFCON match, he was present in a friendly in London and during the thrilling 2008 AFCON clash, where he famously scored to help secure a comeback.

Essien’s memories continue to resonate as a testament to the intense rivalry between these two West African football powerhouses.
