Moses Usor stars as LASK maintain perfect start with win over Ried

Nigerian forward Moses Usor scored once and provided two assists as LASK continued their perfect start to the 2026-27 Austrian Bundesliga season with a convincing 4-1 victory over Ried on Friday.

The 24-year-old played a central role in a comeback win that kept LASK at the top of the table after three matches. Samuel Adeniran scored twice, while Christoph Lang was also on target for the hosts.

Ried took the lead in the ninth minute through Niam Sissoko, who turned the ball home to give the visitors an early advantage. However, LASK responded quickly and went on to dominate the remainder of the contest, despite later being reduced to 10 men.

Usor helped create the equaliser when he found Adeniran, who finished the move to bring LASK level. The Nigerian forward then completed the turnaround himself, firing into the net to put the hosts ahead for the first time.

Adeniran struck again in the 27th minute to extend LASK’s advantage to 3-1 before half-time. Usor was involved once more after the break, collecting the ball during a swift counter-attack before setting up Lang to complete the scoring.

LASK’s victory was not threatened after Robert Ljubicic was sent off for a bad challenge. The hosts held on comfortably to claim all three points and preserve their 100% league record.

LASK had opened the campaign with a 3-0 victory over Grazer AK before following that up with a 2-0 win against Austria Wien. Ried, by contrast, had taken only one point from their first two matches and were seeking an improved result against the early league leaders.

Usor’s display made him one of the outstanding players on the pitch. He created three chances, more than any other player in the match, and recorded seven touches in the opposition penalty area.

He also registered the joint-highest number of shots in the game with three and finished with three goal contributions, the best total of any player involved.

The versatile forward completed all of his attempted dribbles, won 75% of his ground duels and received a match-leading rating of 9.2 from FotMob.

Usor joined LASK from Slavia Prague in 2024 and has continued to establish himself as an important attacking player for the Austrian club. His latest performance takes his tally to five goal contributions in four appearances this season.

The forward has long been monitored by Nigeria, and his current form could strengthen his case for a first senior call-up to the Super Eagles. His strong attacking numbers may also bring him to the attention of head coach Eric Chelle as Nigeria prepare for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Usor and LASK will next turn their attention to European competition. They face Scottish champions Celtic in the UEFA Champions League playoffs at Celtic Park on Wednesday.
