NPFL: Enyimba strengthen squad with Junior Lokosa and 8 others

By Wale Mustapha

Enyimba has bolstered their squad with the signing of nine new players ahead of the remainder of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season.

Among the notable arrivals is veteran striker Junior Lokosa, who joins the Peoples’ Elephants on a free transfer.

Lokosa, who has a wealth of NPFL experience from stints at Kano Pillars, Remo Stars, and Sporting Lagos, is expected to add firepower to Enyimba’s attack.

The 31-year-old has also played internationally, representing clubs such as Esperance in Tunisia, Simba SC in Tanzania, and Al Rayyan in Qatar.

In addition to Lokosa, Enyimba’s new signings include Afolanyan Peters and Quadiri Olusunkanmi from Heartland, Opeoluwa Olufemi and Gozie Umeh from Sunshine Stars, and experienced left-back Solomon Onome, who is expected to strengthen the defensive line.

Also joining the nine-time NPFL champions are Nelson Micheal, formerly of Shashemene Kanema in Ethiopia, and defender Ebube Micheal, who joins from Stanley Eguma’s side.

Enyimba currently sits 11th on the NPFL table with 34 points from 24 matches. They will look to make an impact as they face Katsina United in their Matchday 25 fixture in Katsina on Thursday.
