NPFL MD 24 Wrap: Enyimba secure victory over George Finidi’s Rivers in Aba

Former head coach of Nigeria’s senior men’s national team, George Finidi, returned to his former club, Enyimba FC, but could not get a positive result from Aba.

The People’s Elephant edged Pride of Rivers 1-0 in Matchday 24 of the 2024/25 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) on Saturday.

Imoh Obot’s 41st-minute goal separated both sides at the Enyimba Stadium, Aba.

Elsewhere, Matthew Samuel’s 29th-minute goal also separated Sunshine Stars from Akwa United at the Remo Stars Stadium, Ikenne.

Katsina United forced Lobi Stars to a 1-1 draw as Promise Damala canceled out Tope Akande’s opener for the Makurdi base side.

Goals from Emmanuel Ihezuo (penalty) and Olawale Doyeni lifted Plateau United to a 2-0 victory against El Kanemi Warriors.

Wasiu Jimoh scored the winner as Kwara United pipped Bayelsa United to win back-to-back home games in Ilorin.

Kano Pillars also recorded the same scoreline against Abia Warriors thanks to Mustapha Umar’s 42nd-minute strike.

Finally, Nasarawa United and Ikorodu City played out a 0-0 draw in Lafia.

There are three more games on Sunday with Rangers International FC welcoming league leaders, Remo Stars.
