By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde
After their exit from the CAF Champions League, Rangers International returned to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) with a solid 1-0 victory over newly promoted Ikorodu City FC at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Lagos on Wednesday.
Collins Ugwueze netted the decisive goal in the 25th minute, lifting the Flying Antelopes to eighth place on the league table with four points from two matches.
Meanwhile, Ikorodu City currently sits at the bottom with just one point from three games.
In another match, Enyimba FC, Nigeria’s only remaining representative in continental competitions, secured a 2-1 win against Lobi Stars in Aba.
Chinedu Ufere and Ekwutozi Eze (via penalty) scored two quick goals in the first half, while Lobi’s Waheed Adebayo’s strike only served as a consolation.
Enyimba now occupies fourth place with six points from two games, trailing Remo Stars (9 points), Rivers United (7 points), and Niger Tornadoes (7 points). Lobi Stars find themselves in 17th place with a single point after three matches.
