NWFL Premiership Matchday Eight Wrap: Nasarawa ends Remo Stars’ unbeaten record as Confluence Queens end barren run

The 2024/25 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership season resumed after two weeks of mid-season break with eight games across the country.
After seven games without a loss, Remo Stars Ladies finally tasted defeat as Nasarawa Amazons pipped the Ikenne-based side 1-0 in Lafia.
Jenat Akekeromowei’s 90th-minute penalty ended the Sky Blue Lady’s impressive start to the campaign.
Relatively, Confluence Queens ended their seven-match run without a win or point with a hard-fought 1-0 victory against Heartland Queens in Ayingba.
Former Prince Kazeem Eletu Queens and BIIK Kazygury player Peace Ikediuba scored the winning goal for the Kogi state-based side in the 23rd minute.
In Ilorin, holders, Edo Queens maintained their unbeaten record with a 1-0 win over Ekiti Queens.
Rebecca Adeghemile scored a debut goal for Moses Aduku’s side in the 68th minute of play.
Earlier in Lafia, Naija Ratels thrashed Benue Queens 4-0 thanks to Anuoluwapo Awotidoye’s hat trick.
She became the sixth player to score a treble in the league this season after Mary Lucky (Heartland Queens), Mary Moses (Rivers Angels), Kafayat Bashiru (Remo Stars Ladies), and Afesinmi Omon (Adamawa Queens).
Obadun Azeezat converted the other goal for the Abuja-based side in the 78th minute.
The result made Benue Queens the only team without a win in the league this season.
In Yenegoa, Bayelsa Queens also maintained their unbeaten streak after a 3-0 success against FC Robo Queens.
A brace from Shakirat Moshood and a goal by Olaniyi Alaba lifted the Prosperity Girls to victory.
Abia Angels continued their impressive form of three consecutive wins as goals from Toyibat Abdulaziz (own goal) and Chiamaka Ojialor ensured that the Umuahia-based side secured a 2-0 win over Dannaz Ladies to complete a double over the Cedars.
In Uyo, Uwah Abasiofon converted the winning goal to lift Ibom Angels to a 1-0 victory against Delta Queens.
Finally, Rivers Angels recorded the second away win of the matchday as Tosan Blackson’s side edged Adamawa Queens 2-1 in Numan.
The Port Harcourt-based visitors had to come from behind after Nnenna Ossai’s opener before Taiwo Afolabi restored parity in the 52nd minute.
An own goal from Temilade Oluwaseun won the match for the Jewels of Rivers.
