Osimhen keeps Arsenal and Tottenham on alert with Galatasaray future response
Victor Osimhen has kept open the possibility of leaving Galatasaray, despite his close bond with the Turkish champions and a two-goal performance on the opening day of the 2026-27 Turkish Super Lig season.
The Nigeria international struck twice as Galatasaray recovered from a dramatic start to draw 2-2 with newly promoted Corum FK. Speaking to reporters after Friday night’s match, Osimhen was asked about his future amid renewed reports linking him with Premier League clubs Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur.
The 27-year-old did not confirm that he would remain at Galatasaray beyond the current transfer window, but neither did he indicate that he wanted the club to sell him. His carefully worded response left the situation unresolved.
Osimhen’s comments come as interest from England continues to increase. Arsenal have reportedly held talks with Galatasaray about a possible deal for the striker, with discussions said to have included the potential involvement of Arsenal players Gabriel Martinelli and Ethan Nwaneri.
Galatasaray have made it clear that they do not want to part with Osimhen. However, reports suggest Arsenal were offered the opportunity to include the forward in a possible deal involving Martinelli and Nwaneri, following the Turkish club’s interest in the Brazil international.
The possibility of Arsenal pursuing Osimhen is notable because Mikel Arteta’s side are the reigning Premier League champions and have already strengthened their squad during the summer. Arsenal have signed Bruno Guimaraes from Newcastle United and Christos Tzolis from Club Brugge, among other additions, but remain interested in attacking options before the new Premier League campaign begins.
Tottenham have also been linked with the former Napoli striker. Earlier this month, reports claimed Galatasaray had rejected a €60m offer from Spurs for Osimhen. That decision underlined the scale of the financial commitment likely to be required to sign him.
His personal terms could also prove a significant obstacle for any Premier League club. When Galatasaray announced Osimhen’s permanent signing in July 2025, the club stated that he would receive a guaranteed net salary of €15m per season. The agreement also included a €1m loyalty bonus and €5m per season in image-rights payments.
Osimhen signed a four-year contract with Galatasaray and has quickly developed a strong relationship with the club’s supporters. After a Champions League victory over Liverpool in March, he said: “Galatasaray fans and I are a family.”
That relationship gives Galatasaray reason to believe the striker remains committed, while his latest comments allow Arsenal and Tottenham to maintain hope that a move could still develop before the transfer window closes.
The timing of Osimhen’s answer is significant. With the summer window still open, the forward is aware that the situation could change quickly if a suitable offer arrives.
Osimhen is valued at €75m, although Galatasaray could demand twice that amount before agreeing to sanction his departure from Istanbul. Any club seeking to sign him would therefore face both a substantial transfer fee and a considerable salary package.
