Super Falcons unmoved in latest FIFA ranking

Nigeria’s senior women’s national team maintained their  leadership position on the FIFA rankings as the top-ranked women’s football team in Africa.

The record nine-time African champions remained 36th in the world and first in Africa despite not playing any match this year, especially during the last window where teams played friendly matches and the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) Qualifiers.

Reigning African champions, South Africa also maintained their second spot on the continent but dropped a place to 54th in the world.

Morocco moved one place to 60th and third in Africa ahead of Zambia in fourth which dropped two spots to 64th on the global standings.

Ghana in fifth place moved up to the 65th position ahead of Cameroon in sixth (66th).

Cote D’Ivoire (71), Mali (78), Senegal (82), and Algeria (82) complete Africa’s top 10 ranked women’s football teams in the world.

Tunisia and two time African champions, Equatorial Guinea dropped out of the top 10 rankings in Africa.

The next FIFA women’s rankings will be released on June 12, 2025.
