Super-sub Jennifer Echigini scores for Juventus in draw with Fiorentina

By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

Nigeria forward, Jennifer Echegini was the heroine for her Juventus as she scored the equaliser which ensured a 2-2 draw with Fiorentina in an Italian  Serie A match on Monday.

The Old Ladies playing at home started the match by creating chances and having huge possession before the travelers broke the deadlock against the run of play.

Madelen Janogy silenced the home fans with the opening goal in the 19th minute and Juventus responded as Julia Grosso notched the equaliser seven minutes later.

Janogy restored Fiorentina’s lead in the 32nd minute as the visitors held on to earn a first-half lead.

Echegini had come on as a second half substitute, replacing Sofia Cantore in the 70th minute and didn’t waste much time to make her presence felt.

The Nigerian netted the equaliser for Juventus, with her fantastic strike inside the box four minutes later.

The goal was her second in consecutive games after converting the winning goal against Sassuolo the last time out.

Juventus dropped points in their race for the title as the club seats in the second position with 34 points after 14 games. AS Roma tops the table with 39 points.
