Nottingham Forest F.C. are reportedly assessing the future of Nigerian striker Taiwo Awoniyi ahead of the upcoming summer transfer window, according to reports from Football Insider.
Awoniyi joined Forest in the summer of 2022 after an impressive spell with , but his time in England has been heavily affected by injuries, which have disrupted his consistency and momentum.
The former Liverpool F.C. forward endured a challenging start to the current campaign, struggling for regular playing time and even missing out on Forest’s UEFA Europa League squad.
However, the striker’s fortunes have improved in recent weeks under manager Vítor Pereira, with the Nigerian international gradually rediscovering his form and confidence.
Awoniyi produced one of his best performances of the season against Chelsea F.C., scoring twice as Nottingham Forest claimed a vital victory at Stamford Bridge.
The 27-year-old has also contributed three goals and two assists in his last five appearances, playing an important role in helping Forest secure their Premier League survival during the closing stages of the season.
Despite his recent resurgence, reports suggest Forest remain open to the possibility of a summer exit as part of their wider squad restructuring plans.
Awoniyi, who has one year remaining on his current contract, is expected to attract interest from several clubs as the transfer window approaches.
