Zamalek begin Champions League campaign against Al-Minaa at Cairo International Stadium
Zamalek will begin their 2026-27 CAF Champions League campaign against Djibouti’s Al-Minaa on Friday, 4 September, with both legs of the tie scheduled to take place at Cairo International Stadium.
The decision to stage both matches in Cairo was taken because Al-Minaa’s home ground does not meet African football’s required standards. As a result, Zamalek will host the opening match and the return fixture will also be played at the same stadium.
The match is scheduled to kick off at 20:00 local time in Egypt and Saudi Arabia, with the start time set for 21:00 in the United Arab Emirates.
ON Sport holds the exclusive rights to broadcast the meeting between Zamalek and Al-Minaa in the 2026-27 CAF Champions League. The game will be shown on the ON SPORT channel with Arabic commentary.
However, the broadcaster has not yet announced which commentator will be assigned to the match.
Supporters who prefer to watch online will be able to follow the fixture through the ON SPORT application and the Kora Plus website. Viewers are also offered NordVPN as a way to obtain a secure and fast internet connection.
The fixture marks the start of Zamalek’s latest attempt to progress through the qualifying stages of Africa’s leading club competition. Their opening challenge comes against Al-Minaa, who will play both matches in Egypt because their own stadium has not been approved under CAF regulations.
For viewers in Saudi Arabia and Egypt, the match begins at 8pm on Friday, while those in the United Arab Emirates can watch from 9pm. The venue for both encounters will be Cairo International Stadium.
The broadcast arrangements mean ON Sport will provide the only exclusive television coverage listed for the tie, while its digital platform and Kora Plus will offer online viewing options. An Arabic commentary feed will be available, although the identity of the commentator remains unconfirmed.
Zamalek’s meeting with Al-Minaa is part of the 2026-27 CAF Champions League preliminary knockout stage. The first match will take place on 4 September at Cairo International Stadium, with the return fixture also being played there because Al-Minaa’s stadium does not satisfy the competition’s African requirements.
