“A lion” — Didier Drogba hails Victor Osimhen’s brilliance against Fenerbahçe

By Monsurah Olatunji

Didier Drogba, the legendary Ivorian striker, has praised Victor Osimhen for his stellar performance in Galatasaray’s Turkish Cup win over arch-rivals Fenerbahçe.

The 26-year-old Nigerian forward demonstrated his clinical finishing ability in the heated Istanbul derby, netting twice to seal a 2-0 victory for his side.

Osimhen opened the scoring in the 10th minute with a precise finish and doubled his tally in the 27th minute with a coolly converted penalty.

The performance took his season total to 31 goals for both club and country, cementing his status as one of the most prolific strikers in world football.

Following the match, Drogba took to Instagram to celebrate Osimhen’s exceptional display. Sharing the striker’s victory post, Drogba referred to Osimhen as a “Lion,” a term that resonates deeply with Galatasaray fans, as it’s the club’s iconic nickname.

Drogba, a former Galatasaray star, also added the phrase “aslan cimbombom,” an homage to the club’s passionate fanbase and their famous chant.

Osimhen’s performance further fueled comparisons to some of football’s greatest players, solidifying his reputation as one of the best in the game today.
