AFCON 2023: Awesome rewards await Angola to earn historic win against Nigeria

By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

There has been huge support and motivation back home for the Angolan senior men’s national team to beat Nigeria in the quarter-final of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Cote d’Ivoire on Friday.

This will be the first meeting between both sides at the competition despite the fact that they have both crossed paths at the FIFA World Cup Qualifiers and the Championship of African Nations (CHAN).

In a long list of reward packages already announced for the Angolans, NigeriaFootball.ng shared the breakdown, beginning with the Viana Municipal administration’s promise of a piece of land in Viana for each player.

Angola rapper, Naice Zulu who also owns a cosmetic store has promised free perfume for the players for a year as well fishing company in Angola has promised 12,000 Dollars to each player for one year.

A financial institution in the Southern African nation has also promised every player 9,000 Dollars just as the country’s biggest telecommunication company in the country has also promised each player a free iPhone 15 and free internet services for a year.

A mining company has also promised the team 250,000 Dollars while 440,000 Angolans are being sponsored to Cote D’Ivoire by the country’s airline company to ensure maximum support.

The above packages are in stock for the Sable Antelopes should they beat the Super Eagles on Friday.

Nigeria has won the African title three times with multiple semi-final and final appearances.

Angola, on the other hand, are yet to make it to the semi final of the tournament and a win over Joe Peseiro’s side will go down as one of the biggest upsets of the tournament.

Can the above packages spur Angola to one of the greatest upset of AFCON following the footsteps of their forbears which qualified for 2006 FIFA World Cup ahead of the West African side?
