AFCON 2023: Nigeria to pocket $2.5m for reaching semifinal after Angola win

Nigeria progression to the semi-final of 2023 Africa Cup of Nations has earned the West Africans a whooping $2.5 million that will be paid by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
The Super Eagles defeated the Palancas Negras of Angola by 1-0 in the quarterfinal of the tournament thanks to solitary goal from Ademola Lookman in the first half on Friday.
Nigeria, hosts Ivory Coast, DR Congo and South Africa have already secured the $2.5m prize money and will be aiming for the ultimate prize.
Based on the prize money released by organisers, the three-time AFCON champions will now be gunning for the $7m prize money for the eventual champions, while the runners-up of the tournament will smile home with $4m.
Super Eagles will be taking on South Africa in the first semifinal on Wednesday before Ivory Coast take on DR Congo on Thursday.
