AFCON 2023: Time and where to watch Nigeria vs Angola quarterfinal clash

Fans and followers of African football are excited about the Nigeria vs Angola 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) quarter-final encounter in the Ivory Coast.

The Nigeria Super Eagles blockbuster clash with the Black Sable Antelopes of Angola will be one of eight exciting matchups that promises much more upsets with no pushovers left in African football.

Both sides have traded tackles on ten occasions in the past including CHAN which is the home-based AFCON)l competition, but however they have never met in an AFCON final.

Jose Peseiro-led team have the upper hand with three wins for the Super Eagles, two wins for Angola, while five matches ended in stalemates.

Nigeria are three-time champions who have made 20 appearances and have been ever present in the knockout phase of this competition many times, playing their 17th quarterfinals.

The same cannot be said of Angola who are yet to get their maiden AFCON trophy after eight appearances in the biennial tournament so far and will be playing just their third quarterfinals.

Although, both teams are unbeaten so far at this tournament with three wins and one draw apiece. Nigeria are the highest-ranked team remaining in this tournament (42nd) following the elimination of the top five ranked teams, Senegal and all the four Arab-African sides.

Meanwhile, Angola are ranked 117th best team in the world. With a 75 gap between both teams, Nigeria are considered favourites.

The quarter-final fixture between Nigeria and Angola will come up on 2 February 2024, at the Stade Felix Houphouët-Boigny in Abidjan.

The match which is billed for 6pm Nigerian time will be aired on Afrosport, DSTV, and Startimes. It will also be available for streaming on CAF Tv on YouTube.
