Chelsea forward Joao Pedro signs new contract until 2034
Chelsea forward Joao Pedro has agreed a new contract that will keep him at the club until 2034, following a first season in which he helped the Blues win the Club World Cup and was named the club’s supporters’ Player of the Season.
The Brazil international joined Chelsea from Brighton & Hove Albion in July 2025 and quickly established himself as an important figure in the team.
Joao Pedro made an immediate impression after his move to Stamford Bridge, scoring in both the semi-final and final of the Club World Cup. Chelsea went on to lift the trophy and were crowned world champions.
The 24-year-old finished the 2025/26 campaign with 20 goals in all competitions. His performances were recognised by the club’s supporters, who voted him their Player of the Season.
The new agreement represents a long-term commitment from Joao Pedro, who had joined Chelsea only in July but made a significant contribution during his first campaign in west London.
‘I am very happy to sign a new contract with Chelsea,’ Pedro told theclub’s official website.
‘I always dreamed of playing for a big club, and it means a lot to me to give my long-term commitment to this club. Chelsea has a long tradition of winning and it has big ambitions for the future.’
Joao Pedro also said he had settled quickly since arriving in London and had developed positive relationships throughout the club.
‘I have a very good relationship with everyone here at the club and I have felt at home here in London from the moment that I joined.’
Chelsea are preparing for the new season with Joao Pedro again committed to the club’s long-term plans. The striker believes the squad has the quality and ambition to challenge for further success under a coach who has already won trophies.
‘Everyone is very excited for this season. We know we can achieve a lot of things, we have a great team, we have a coach who wants to win and has won already. I am fully committed, everyone is ready and hopefully we can achieve our targets.’
Joao Pedro’s contract extension follows his move from Brighton & Hove Albion, which was completed in July 2025. In his first season at Chelsea, his goals in the Club World Cup semi-final and final helped secure the club’s world title, while his overall total of 20 goals earned him the backing of the supporters.
Chelsea have now secured the Brazil international’s future through 2034 as he continues his career at Stamford Bridge.
