Osimhen moves up Galatasaray’s all-time foreign goalscorers’ ranking

Victor Osimhen has climbed to third place among Galatasaray’s highest-scoring foreign players after helping the Turkish champions to a 4-0 victory over Erzurum FK on Friday.

The Nigeria international scored twice in the emphatic win, taking his total for Galatasaray to 62 goals and moving him above former Czech Republic striker Milan Baros in the club’s historical standings. Baros scored 61 goals during his time with the Yellow and Reds.

Osimhen has reached his tally in 76 appearances for Okan Buruk’s side, while also providing 16 assists. His latest goals underline the impact he has made since joining Galatasaray and place him among the most prolific foreign players in the club’s history.

Only two players now stand above the 27-year-old on the list. Argentine striker Mauro Icardi is second with 77 goals, while Galatasaray legend Gheorghe Hagi occupies the top position with 72.

The brace against Erzurum FK also secured another landmark for Osimhen. He became the first Galatasaray player since Brazilian striker Mario Jardel in the 2000/01 campaign to score at least four goals across the opening two matches of a Super Lig season.

Osimhen has made a fast start to the new league campaign, scoring four goals and registering one assist in Galatasaray’s first two matches. His double against Erzurum FK came as Buruk’s team recorded a convincing win and continued their early-season momentum.

The former Lille forward’s two goals also ensured he surpassed Baros in the club’s foreign goalscoring records. Baros, who represented Galatasaray during his spell in Turkey, had previously held third place with 61 goals.

Osimhen’s overall Galatasaray record now stands at 62 goals and 16 assists from 76 appearances. That combination of goalscoring and creativity has helped establish him as one of the club’s leading overseas players, with only Icardi and Hagi ahead of him in the ranking.

His latest achievement adds to an increasingly impressive opening to the season. After two Super Lig fixtures, Osimhen has already scored four times and supplied one assist, while Galatasaray have benefited from his contribution in attack.

The 4-0 result over Erzurum FK provided the setting for both milestones: Osimhen’s rise to third in Galatasaray’s all-time foreign scorers’ list and his place in the club’s record books alongside Mario Jardel.
