Fulham manager Marco Silva has provided a positive update on Calvin Bassey’s fitness, confirming that the Nigerian defender will be available for selection in the upcoming Premier League fixture against Sheffield United on Sunday.

Bassey, who missed out on featuring for the Super Eagles in their recent friendly matches against Ghana and Mali due to injury, has since returned to England for treatment. Silva expressed his delight at having most of his international players back in full fitness and ready for action.

“We don’t have too many worries with the boys coming back from international duty. The team is rich enough to give us what we want,” Silva stated in an interview with the club’s official website.

Bassey, a former Ajax center-back, has been an integral part of Fulham’s squad this season, making 20 Premier League appearances since joining the club from Ajax last summer. Silva indicated that Bassey’s availability for the match against Sheffield United will depend on his readiness to start.

“Bassey returned on time and he’s ready. We’ll see if he can start at Bramall Lane,” Silva added.

The news will come as a boost for Fulham as they look to secure a positive result against Sheffield United and continue their push for promotion back to the Premier League.
