Kennedy Okpala: Dynamo Dresden sign Germany-Nigeria striker on loan
Germany and Nigeria forward Kennedy Okpala has joined Dynamo Dresden from Bundesliga club SC Paderborn on a season-long loan.
The 21-year-old centre-forward switches to the 2. Bundesliga side for the 2026-27 campaign, with the loan running until 30 June 2027. Okpala will return to Paderborn when the agreement expires.
Okpala becomes a Dynamo Dresden player after spending the first part of his senior career with Paderborn. He joined the Bundesliga club from SV Waldhof Mannheim in January 2026 in a €550,000 transfer, having made his senior move into professional football from Mannheim’s under-19 side in August 2023.
The striker was part of the Waldhof Mannheim team that won the Baden Cup in the 2025-26 season. His move to Dresden gives him a change of club and a place in the squad of a side competing in Germany’s second tier.
Born in Neustadt an der Weinstraße, Okpala is eligible to represent both Germany and Nigeria. He stands 1.85 metres tall and plays primarily through the centre of the attack, while favouring his right foot.
Dresden have completed the move at a time when Okpala’s market value is listed at €1.5m. The transfer is his third senior club change since leaving Mannheim’s academy pathway, following his move into the Mannheim first team and subsequent switch to Paderborn.
Okpala’s loan spell at Dynamo Dresden is confirmed through to 30 June 2027.
