Paris Saint-Germain’s summer transfer window ends in frustration despite five signings
Paris Saint-Germain’s summer transfer window has ended with the club failing to complete a sixth signing requested by head coach Luis Enrique, according to a report published on Tuesday.
The French champions closed their transfer business for the 2026-27 season, at least in terms of incoming players, after bringing in five new faces. The arrivals were Ferran Torres, Mika Godts, Maghnes Akliouche, Lucas Digne and Alessandro Longoni.
However, the five additions did not fully satisfy Luis Enrique’s plans for the squad. The manager wanted Paris Saint-Germain to sign another striker before the transfer window shut, but the club was unable to conclude the deal.
RMC Sport reported that Paris Saint-Germain made a final attempt to recruit an additional forward and continued working on the move until the closing stages of the window. The French outlet did not reveal the identity of the striker wanted by Luis Enrique.
Although the player’s name has not been disclosed, RMC Sport said efforts were made to complete the transfer. Those attempts ultimately failed, leaving Luis Enrique without the sixth signing he had hoped to add to his squad.
The five players who joined Paris Saint-Germain this summer cost a combined €152m. Despite that considerable investment, the club’s transfer window has been described in reports in France as ending on a disappointing note because of the failure to secure one more attacking option.
Paris Saint-Germain’s incoming business is therefore considered complete for now, with the club having added five players but not the further striker targeted by its manager. The identity of that player, and the details of the proposed deal, remain undisclosed.
The report focused specifically on the club’s failure to meet Luis Enrique’s request for an additional signing. It did not provide further information about the negotiations or explain why the final transfer could not be completed.
As a result, the summer window ended with Paris Saint-Germain having spent €152m on five arrivals while missing out on the additional forward sought by the head coach. The club’s recruitment activity may have been substantial, but the final stage of the window left Luis Enrique without the sixth addition he wanted.
