Real Madrid begin Champions League campaign against Inter as UEFA confirms 2026-27 fixtures
Real Madrid will open their 2026-27 UEFA Champions League league-phase campaign at home against Inter after UEFA confirmed the dates for all eight of their matches.
The meeting with Inter will take place at the Santiago Bernabeu on 8 September, giving Real Madrid a high-profile start to their European campaign.
Their complete league-phase schedule is:
– 8 September: Real Madrid v Inter Santiago Bernabeu
– 14 October: Roma v Real Madrid away
– 21 October: Real Madrid v RB Leipzig Santiago Bernabeu
– 4 November: AEK Athens v Real Madrid away
– 24 November: Real Madrid v PSV Eindhoven Santiago Bernabeu
– 9 December: Arsenal v Real Madrid away
– 19 January: Real Madrid v LASK Santiago Bernabeu
– 27 January: Shakhtar Donetsk v Real Madrid away
The fixtures were announced by UEFA on Saturday, following the draw for the league phase of the competition.
Real Madrid will have four home matches at the Santiago Bernabeu, against Inter, RB Leipzig, PSV Eindhoven and LASK. Their away schedule includes trips to Roma, AEK Athens, Arsenal and Shakhtar Donetsk.
The club published its fixture list for the 2026-27 Champions League league phase on social media after UEFA released the dates.
The draw was conducted under the new Champions League format, which features 36 teams in a single league phase rather than the previous group-stage system.
Each club will play eight matches against eight different opponents. Every team will face two opponents from each of the four seeding pots, with one home and one away fixture against teams from each pot.
The eight clubs finishing highest in the league table will qualify directly for the last 16.
Teams ranked from ninth to 24th will enter a two-legged play-off, with the winners claiming the remaining places in the last 16. Clubs finishing from 25th to 36th will be eliminated from the competition and will not drop into the Europa League.
Real Madrid’s opening fixture against Inter is therefore the first of eight league-phase matches that will determine whether they secure an automatic place in the last 16 or must navigate the play-off round. Their final league-phase fixture will be away to Shakhtar Donetsk on 27 January, after home matches against PSV Eindhoven and LASK and away games against Arsenal and the other scheduled opponents.
