Yira Collins Sor joins Amedspor after Genk spell
Nigeria forward Yira Collins Sor has completed a move to newly promoted Turkish Super Lig club Amedspor after several seasons with Belgian side Genk.
The 26-year-old attacker leaves Genk having established himself in Belgian football and made more than 100 appearances for the club across all competitions. During his time there, Sor contributed goals and assists and also gained experience in European fixtures.
His transfer to Amedspor represents the next stage of a European career that has already taken him through Belgium and the Czech Republic. The Turkish club, preparing for its first campaign in the Super Lig after securing promotion, will hope Sor can add greater pace, creativity and attacking threat to its squad.
Sor joined Genk in 2022 and went on to become a regular contributor during his stay. His performances included involvement in domestic matches and European competition, giving him experience at a level that Amedspor will now look to draw on as it prepares for the demands of the Turkish top flight.
Before moving to Belgium, Sor played in the Czech Republic for Banik Ostrava and Slavia Prague. He previously developed at 36 Lion Academy, where his progress helped set him on the path to professional football in Europe.
The move also comes at an important point in Sor’s international career. He earned his first senior cap for Nigeria’s Super Eagles in March, adding international recognition to his club experience.
At Amedspor, Sor will be expected to compete for an important role in the team’s attacking plans. His ability to bring speed and creativity gives the newly promoted side another option as it prepares for the new Super Lig campaign.
For Sor, the transfer provides an opportunity to establish himself as a key player in a new league while continuing to strengthen his claims with the Super Eagles. His performances for Amedspor will be closely linked to both ambitions: helping the Turkish club make an impact at the highest domestic level and building on his first step into senior international football.
Amedspor will now look to Sor’s experience in Belgium and the Czech Republic, as well as his record of contributing goals and assists, to help the club meet the challenge of its new Super Lig status.
